OXY-FUEL MELTING KILNS
In continuous tank melting kilns for the production of special ceramic frit, the choice of using oxy-fuel combustion technology with pure gas-oxygen burners in place of conventional pre-heated air burners brings a series of notable advantages:
– up to 50-60% reduction in fuel gas consumption compared to conventional kilns;
– increase in hourly production capacity;
– melting temperature increased to 1550°-1600°C;
– reduced volume of flue gases and pollutants emitted into the atmosphere;
– the absence of nitrogen minimises the production of nitrogen oxides;
– more flexible operation of the melting system.

Carfer Forni has designed and built a new series of continuous tank melting kilns with a fixed structure called CARFER FFO-10 and FFO-15. They have a production capacity of 20-30 tonnes/day of special ceramic frits (at 1550°C) and are equipped with a new oxy-fuel system with the latest CAR-HTF multilayer and flat flame type pure gas-oxygen burners.
These special burners are suitably positioned on the kiln walls and ensure rapid melting of the loaded material and refinement of the molten mass while maintaining it at the correct temperature and viscosity.
The kilns are equipped with state of- the-art control and regulation systems that guarantee maximum operating and management flexibility of the melting system.
The kilns comply with all relevant provisions of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and UNI EN 746-2:2011.
