concerning the reduction of the energy consumption and the safe of the environments, Carfer Forni researched and developed Carfer MDS-E 3.0 a new technical solution for the existing roller kilns, in order to reduce further the fuel consumption. A new combustion plant Carfer MDS-E 3.0,with pneumatic valve, body and seat in alluminium, has been designed that controls and adjusts automatically the combustion air/gas ratio on each individual burner, not only when the kiln runs fully loaded, but also whenever the kiln is empty or in stand-by mode.The laboratory test and the modifications that have been carried out on existing kilns show that it is possible to reach a fuel saving up to 15% comparing with the previous design where the combustion air is fixed and with savings in terms of CO₂ emissions into the atmosphere.
